One holiday we always celebrate in our home is Mother's Day with our annual brunch! We look forward to it every year and have a great time prepping for it as well as entertaining the day of. It's the one day of year that we are lucky enough to gather the most important women of our lives - our mothers and grandmothers - and demonstrate how much we love and care about them.
On the menu this year was a french toast casserole made by Mr. P's mom (recipe coming soon!), breakfast potatoes, bacon and cheese fritata, croissants, bagels, doughnut holes, fruit, an assortment of Cuban breakfast pastries (pastelitos), fruity champagne and coffee.
Mrs. P bought some fresh flowers the day before the brunch and placed them in small, round candle holders decorated with a raffia bow. She found the glass bowls in the dollar store! Flowers included: fuchsia roses, orange carnations, babies breath, yellow pompoms and lime green chrysanthemum flowers. When buying a large quantity of flowers, try to find a flower wholesaler in your city. You will save tons of money! Mrs. P made one arrangement per mom to take home as a take away! They loved the fact that they can take a souvenir home from our party!
The focal point of the buffet table were these three tall vases filled with flowers mentioned above. Believe it or not, those are aluminum Coca-Cola bottles! Mr. P spray painted them with sunflower yellow paint. DIY blog post coming soon!
For dessert, we had cake pops and cookie pops by sweetkpops, Nutella Cream Pie and chocolate-covered strawberries.
This year, we celebrated a new mother in our family. Mr. P's sister Michelle gave birth to her little boy Lucas on May 1st, just in time for Mother's Day! This was his first outing other than the doctor's office! We adore this little guy!
Isn't he a cutie?!?
Joey was trilled to meet his new little cousin!

Overall, it was another lovely Mother's Day brunch!
